The Mutated RAS Pathway

In contrast to healthy cells, many types of cancer have a predominace of one type of receptor on their surface. These cells, therefore, are capable of interacting with numerous growth factors. In other types of cancer, a mutation of the RAS pathway may no longer be controlled by extra-cellular growth factors. Without this regulation the pathway accelerates out of control and continously bombards the nucleus with signals for cell growth.
